We’d like to give a big warm welcome to Sameena Harkins, who joined the Tease Hair Boutique team this summer as a level four Hair Stylist. Growing up in Pakistan, Sameena moved to the states shortly after finishing school for computer graphics and animation. After beginning work in her field, it didn’t take long for her to realize that she just wasn’t passionate about the work she was doing, and she craved a more hands-on experience. Sameena explored her options and did some soul searching before realizing that her true passion was to make people look and feel good. Shortly after this, Sameena enrolled at Blaine School for Cosmetology in Fenway.
“Hair wasn’t something I thought of doing until then, but it was the best decision I ever made,” Sameena explains, “I get to be creative, meet people, and enjoy getting to know them as I do their hair. It’s a win-win for me.”
Over the next 15 years, Sameena gained experience working in and around Boston, including reputable salons on Newbury Street. After working in high end, trendy salons for the majority of her career, Sameena moved with her family to the South Shore, still craving that city-like feel. That’s when she came across Tease Hair Boutique.
“I wanted a change from the city, and Tease Hair Boutique gave me the feeling that I would get that,” Sameena explains, “that I would be happy here while still providing luxurious, high end service to my clients.”
Since joining the Tease Hair Boutique team a few months back, Sameena has attracted a variety of new clients with her creative coloring techniques and natural talent. Sameena specializes in precision cutting techniques, where she has advanced training inclusive of men, women, and gender neutral techniques and styles. She also has extensive training in balayage and creative coloring, and holds certifications from American Crew Mens cutting, Paul Mitchell, Framesi, Wella, and Schwartzkoph, to name a few. Sameena is dedicated to continuous growth in her field and often attends seminars and new trainings to perfect her skills as a stylist.
“Training and education in hair artistry is ever changing and evolving and I enjoy keeping up with what’s new and how to do it. My hair idol is Robert Lobetta. A true visionary and artist who has inspired me in my work as a hair artist.”
When Sameena isn’t behind the chair crafting fun, intricate looks, she enjoys coming home to spend time with her toddlers, husband and dog. In the past, she deeply enjoyed traveling for inspiration and cultural immersion, and Sameena has a hidden talent as a former semi-pro golfer as a teenager.
When it comes to being a good stylist, Sameena believes the ability to listen is very important.
“Everyone has different needs and wants from their hair. It is my job as their stylist to guide and provide them with a personalized service suitable to their hair.”
