Say hello to Christina Collins, a Weymouth native and a member of the Tease Hair Boutique Associate program. Starting as an interest in fashion at a young age and evolving to include hair and makeup, Christina has always had a passion for the beauty industry. During her senior year of high school she decided to lock her sights on pursuing this passion and enrolled in Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy in Braintree, MA before she had even graduated.
Christina started school in September of 2020 where she gained knowledge and experience in styling and beauty techniques. At the same time, she began looking for opportunities to gain some hands-on experience with a salon she could grow in. Christina had learned a lot about the Kérastase line during her time at Toni & Guy, and decided she wanted to work in a salon that carries these products.
Christina completed the Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy and became a licensed cosmetologist, then began looking for an opportunity to launch her career. Not long after graduating, she came across the Associate Program at Tease Hair Boutique in Norwell, MA.
“I was looking for a Kérastase salon on the South Shore. After doing some research, I found Tease Hair Boutique online,” says Christina, “I checked out Tease’s social media and had a good feeling, and I loved the vibe of the salon.”
Shortly after, Christina began her stylist career as a part of the Tease Hair Boutique Associate Program, an opportunity for entry level stylists to gain hands-on experience and learn from some of the best before moving on to take on their own clients.
Nine months into the program, Christina has gained new skills and knowledge from the program, practicing to perfect her styling techniques. She is certified in Brazilian Blowout and Keratin Complex and deeply enjoys work that includes the balayage technique and looks with dimensional color.
“When I’m behind the chair, it doesn’t feel like work,” Christina explains, “It feels like I’m just doing what I love and am passionate about. I also love meeting new people and building relationships with clients.”
When Christina isn’t behind the chair at Tease Hair Boutique, you can usually find her spending time with friends and family, and in the summer at the beach. She also enjoys traveling, visiting the beaches of California with her mother every summer in particular.
As the youngest in her family and the first to graduate and launch her career, Christina takes pride in her work and cares deeply about the outcome. When asked what she believes makes someone a good stylist, Christina says it’s all about building connections (with clients) and focusing on the quality of the work you’re producing.
Next time you’re in the salon, make sure to say hello to Christina!
