We’re excited to welcome Kyla Gately to the Tease Hair Boutique team, who joined the Associate program a little over a month ago. Born in Tallahassee, Florida, Kyla moved around as a child, living in California and Michigan before moving to Weymouth, Massachusetts where she has resided since. Growing up the youngest of three girls, Kyla always enjoyed creating different hairstyles and playing with her sisters’ hair.
“I quickly realized I loved the feeling of making people feel beautiful and confident, coming from something I was doing.” Kyla reminisces on her time spent as a child, hairbrush in hand.
After graduating high school, Kyla decided to go to college to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher. After her first semester, she had hesitations about this path and realized that she could turn her passion for making people feel beautiful into a career. She fell in love with this idea and decided to pursue this dream, attending Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy while also working at Old Navy at the Hingham Shipyard.
Upon graduating in June, 2022 Kyla was excited to start her career and knew she wanted to be a part of the Tease Hair Boutique Associate Program. A teaching salon, Tease Hair Boutique gives new stylists the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while learning from tenured and passionate stylists.
“I have been a client of Christina’s at Tease Hair Boutique for a little over a year, and I’ve seen her growth as a stylist in the time she’s been there,” Kyla explains, “it’s inspiring to see and the environment seemed really supportive and uplifting.”
A little over a month into the Associate program, Kyla has deeply enjoyed her time at Tease, getting to know the other stylists and gaining hands-on experience. She loves the endless opportunities to learn, practice, and grow at your own pace while interacting with new people daily and gaining new communication skills. Kyla deeply enjoys the art of highlighting as well as styling - specifically blow-outs and hot tools to finish off a new look and give her clients that fresh-out-of-the-salon feel.
When Kyla’s not at the salon, she enjoys spending time with her parents and two sisters, who have always been a huge inspiration to her and the people she looks up to most. She also enjoys hanging with her friends, traveling, shopping, and spending quality time with her dog, Peppa. If Kyla didn’t have to work for a living, she says she’d still be a stylist, though living and working in sunny California.
